Fixray vs MaintainX: built for venues, not factories.
MaintainX is an industrial-grade CMMS with 100+ integrations. If you run a factory floor, it's probably the right call. If you run a hotel, a conference centre, or an event venue, you're paying for shelves of functionality your team will never open. Here's what changes when the tool is built for your operation.
| Capability | MaintainX | Fixray |
|---|---|---|
| Free tier scope | Limited work orders (demo scope) | Single site, 50 open issues, unlimited reporters |
| Pricing model | Per user, per month, tiered | Per site, per month. Reporters always free. |
| Time from signup to first logged job | Multi-step onboarding with role + workspace setup | Under two minutes |
| Reporter experience | Account required | QR-code web access — no install, no login |
| Integrations library | 100+ integrations (ERP, MES, IoT) | CSV / JSON export, Stripe billing, Supabase-native |
| Product language + defaults | Industrial / horizontal | Venue operator — rooms, spaces, shift handovers, event turnarounds |
| Multi-shift handover | Generic work-order handoff | Explicit shift-to-shift queue with handover notes |
| Suits a 50-person centralised FM team | Yes — designed for this | Over-provisioned — the Operate tier scales but the language stays venue-first |
| UK / EU hosting + VAT invoicing | US-based, USD invoicing | EU-hosted Supabase, UK-invoiced with VAT |
| Recurring PPM scheduling | Yes | Yes, on the Operate tier |

Fixray is best for you if…
- You operate a UK venue (hotel, conference centre, event space) and find MaintainX over-engineered
- You want reporters on QR-code access, not seats
- You invoice in GBP and need VAT on the invoice
- You value rollout speed (day-one adoption) over integration depth
MaintainX is best for you if…
- You run a factory or industrial facility with 50+ FM staff
- You need 100+ integrations into ERP, MES, or IoT sensors
- You already have a dedicated CMMS admin and a rollout budget
- Your compliance regime needs heavyweight audit tooling beyond UK venue standards
MaintainX is genuinely good at industrial. If that's you, don't switch on our say-so.
How Meridian Grand ended up here
“We looked at MaintainX. Too heavy. We needed reporters who could flag a broken tap without an app install, and a fixer dashboard that didn't take a week to configure. Fixray gave us one list, a photo against every job, and proof it's been done.”Read the full Meridian Grand switch story
Switching questions
- MaintainX has a free tier too. Is Fixray's actually different?
- MaintainX's free plan covers a limited number of work orders — effectively a demo. Fixray's free tier is 50 open issues on a single site with unlimited reporters, which is enough to run a small venue.
- What about MaintainX's integration library?
- If you need deep ERP / MES / IoT integrations, MaintainX wins. Fixray ships CSV and JSON export, Stripe billing, and a Supabase data model you can query directly. Most UK venue operators don't need more than that.
- How does pricing compare for a 10-fixer team?
- MaintainX Essential starts around $16 per user per month — about $160 a month for ten fixers. Fixray Operate is per-site, so on a single site with ten fixers it typically runs lower. See the current pricing page for today's numbers.
- Is Fixray just a simpler MaintainX?
- It's a different product. MaintainX is built for industrial operations. Fixray is built for venue operators — rooms, spaces, event turnarounds. The language, defaults, and workflow all assume a venue.
